FHLBank, Partners Honor New Home Builders President at WV Reception

Officials of FHLBank Pittsburgh and the West Virginia Housing Development Fund (WVHDF) co-hosted a reception in Charleston on January 25 for Sandy Dunn, the former President of the Home Builders Association of West Virginia recently elected as president of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

A “Who’s Who” crowd of 200 turned out at the Governor’s Mansion to wish Dunn well on her new job, which comes at a time when homebuilders nationally face significant challenges due to one of the largest declines in the housing market in decades. Gov. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Joe Hatfield, executive director of WVHDF and Bill Miller, FHLBank’s district manager for government relations, spoke at the affair and congratulated Dunn on her ascension to the top post at NAHB, the first ever West Virginian and only the second woman to achieve such status.

“Sandy is the right person in the right place at the right time,” said Miller. “She possesses the knowledge, stamina and leadership skills to get the job done.

“It certainly is an honor for West Virginians to have one of their own serve as NAHB President – the first time a Mountaineer has done so,” added Miller. “We look forward to continuing our close ties with Sandy and builders all across the Bank’s district to create jobs and strengthen the economy through homebuilding.”

Others attending the gala included several state legislators, congressional staff, West Virginia Home Builders membership and the association’s senior leadership.
