STATE SEN. CORMAN, FHLBANK PITTSBURGH TO BESTOW 'PILLARS'
AWARD: JULY 6 EVENT TO HONOR OMEGA BANK FOR EXCELLENCE
IN COMMUNITY SERVICE
STATE COLLEGE, PA, June 30, 2006 State Sen.
Jake Corman (R-34) will be the keynote speaker July
6 when Omega Bank is honored with the coveted Pillars
of the Community Award for excellence in community service
at a reception at its State College headquarters. The
event will be held Thursday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at the
headquarters of Omega Bank, 366 Walker Drive.
Omega Bank is the only financial institution in central
Pennsylvania chosen to receive the 2006 Pillars award,
bestowed annually by FHLBank Pittsburgh (part of the
Federal Home Loan Bank System) in recognition of a local
bank's sustained and outstanding commitment to affordable
housing and community and economic development. Omega
Bank is one of only four winners across Pennsylvania,
Delaware and West Virginia among the approximately 340
financial institutions eligible to compete for the prestigious
award.
Sen. Corman will be joined at the July 6 event by a
variety of area business and nonprofit leaders as well
as officials of FHLBank Pittsburgh, who will explain
why Omega Bank was chosen. Donita Koval, president and
chief executive officer of Omega Bank, will also speak
and provide an update on the housing and community development
projects that played a role in the decision to cite
Omega for excellence.
In recognition of Omega's accomplishment, FHLBank Pittsburgh
will make a $1,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity/Williamsport-Lycoming
at the July 6 event.
Representatives of the news media are invited to cover
next Thursday's event. Images of community projects
under development will be on display.
