CONGRESSMAN PLATTS, ORRSTOWN BANK TO ANNOUNCE $6.7 MILLION FOR MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS AT SENIOR HOUSING PROJECT IN CARLISLE

CARLISLE, PA, July 26, 2006 – U.S. Rep. Todd Platts (PA-19) will be the keynote speaker next Monday when Orrstown Bank and the Redevelopment and Housing Authorities of Cumberland County (CCHRA) announce $6.7 million in low-cost financing for major project improvements at One West Penn Apartments to benefit area seniors.

Project details will be disclosed Monday, July 31, at 10 a.m. in the community room of One West Penn Apartments, 1 West Penn Street, Carlisle PA 17013. Featured speakers include Congressman Platts, CCHRA Executive Director Chris Gulotta and Jeff Gayman, president of Carlisle Senior Housing Associates. The event will conclude by 11 a.m.

Following the check presentation, Congressman Platts, Gulotta and other civic leaders will visit two homes that are part of the West Street Pride initiative. They will depart One West Penn Apartments and walk to properties at 414 North West Street and 434 North West Street. At the second property, they will speak with a first-time homebuyer, Algerald Hall. Mr. Hall’s family is moving from public housing and is currently closing on this property. The West Street Pride initiative was established to encourage first-time homeownership, elimination of blight and neighborhood stability.

Also at next Monday’s event, Kenneth R. Shoemaker, president and chief executive officer of Orrstown Bank, will receive the Council Award, an award for outstanding personal service to the community presented annually by FHLBank Pittsburgh, part of the Federal Home Loan Bank System. Gulotta is Chair of FHLBank’s Affordable Housing Advisory Council. Shoemaker is the only bank executive across Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to receive the award in 2006.
