CONGRESSMAN DENT, EAST PENN BANK TO PRESENT MAJOR GRANT: $500,000 WILL AID NEW HOUSING, FACELIFT AT ALLENTOWN RESCUE MISSION

ALLENTOWN, PA, August 14, 2006 — The Hon. Charles W. Dent (PA-15) will be the keynote speaker tomorrow when East Penn Bank presents a $500,000 grant to Allentown Rescue Mission for its first major renovation project in 44 years. The event will be held Tuesday, August 15, from 1-2 p.m. in the garden area of the mission, 355 W. Hamilton Street in Downtown Allentown.

Featured speakers include Congressman Dent; Brent L. Peters, president and chief executive officer of East Penn Bank; Gary F. Millspaugh, the mission's executive director; and John J. Bendel, director of Community Investment at FHLBank Pittsburgh, part of the Federal Home Loan Bank System. Other community leaders from the public and private sectors will also attend.

Millspaugh will explain how the one-half-million-dollar grant will further plans for the rehabilitation or construction of 94 units of mission housing. He will also outline other site changes and discuss the mission's overall strategy for community outreach going forward. Artist renderings of the changes will be displayed at the event.

Directions

From Downtown Allentown: Proceeding south on 7th Street, you will pass: Allen Street, Liberty Street, Gordon Street, Chew Street and Turner Street. After passing Turner Street, get in the left lane of 7th Street and pass Linden Street. You will see a large monument. Proceed left onto Hamilton Street to the left of the monument. Allentown Rescue Mission is four blocks away on Hamilton. The mission is about 500 feet after 4th Street, on the left.

From points east: Take Route I-78 West. Take the Route 22 exit. Get on Route 22 going west. Continue on Route 22 going west until you come to an Allentown exit marked "Route 145 South, 7th Street /McArthur Road." Turn right at the end of the ramp. After getting on MacArthur Road, proceed for 0.9-mile. MacArthur Road will turn into 7th Street. You will see the cross street, Tilghman Street. Pass through Tilghman. Proceeding south on 7th Street, you will pass: Allen Street, Liberty Street, Gordon Street, Chew Street and Turner Street. After passing Turner Street, get in the left lane of 7th Street and pass Linden Street. You will see a large monument. Proceed left onto Hamilton Street to the left of the monument. Allentown Rescue Mission is four blocks away on Hamilton. The mission is about 500 feet after 4th Street, on the left.

Parking
Proceeding down Hamilton Street (see sets of directions above), turn left onto Race Street prior to reaching American Parkway. Make the first left. You will proceed up Court Street, the rear of the mission. Event parking will be available at this location.
