WESBANCO BANK HONORED WITH ‘PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY’ AWARD:
CITED FOR OUTSTANDING WORK IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING, REVITALIZATION

LIGONIER, PA, June 5, 2007 - WesBanco Bank, Inc. today was honored as one of only four financial institutions across Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to receive the coveted Pillars of the Community Award in recognition of the bank’s outstanding work in the areas of affordable housing and community revitalization.

WesBanco Bank received the award as a result of its superior work during 2006 in making affordable housing grants available to low- to moderate-income individuals and families; distributing grants to low-income first-time homebuyers to help them meet down payment and closing costs; extending low-cost financing to new or expanding small businesses; and serving as a sponsor of West Virginia’s new Blueprint Communities neighborhoods revitalization initiative. The award was presented to Joe Flynn, WesBanco Bank’s Vice President, Community Development, at a regional meeting of community financial institutions hosted by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh (FHLBank).

“Over the years, WesBanco Bank has assumed a leadership role in community and economic development, using grants and low-cost loans to great advantage on behalf of its customers,” said John Bendel, Director, Community Investment at FHLBank, a congressionally-chartered wholesale bank that partners with community financial institutions like WesBanco. “WesBanco deserves special credit for stepping forward to serve as a sponsor of Blueprint Communities, the new grassroots community revitalization initiative launched this year by Gov. Manchin. Thanks in large measure to Joe Flynn and his people, nearly 100 community leaders are gaining newfound skills and knowledge that will help them lead their counties and neighborhoods to a greater degree of community stability. We applaud their efforts to better the communities they serve.”

In recognition of WesBanco Bank’s receipt of the Pillars award, FHLBank is making a $1,000 charitable contribution to the Blueprint Communities teams in Salem and Shinnston, WV.

Founded more than 130 years ago, WesBanco Banks, Inc. operates 78 offices in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. It has approximately $4 billion in assets and is headquartered in Wheeling, WV.
