Rep. Kanjorski to Co-Host, Speak at NEPA Economic Development Forum:
Event includes a report on the region’s economy and a panel on current regional challenges and opportunities

SCRANTON, PA, July 30, 2007 - U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski (PA-11) will headline a half-day regional economic development forum on Tuesday, August 7 in Scranton. The congressman is co-hosting the forum with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh (FHLBank). The aim of the event is to bring together a diverse set of leaders in the field of economic development to discuss the regional economy of northeastern Pennsylvania communities, current challenges and opportunities in economic development and tools that are available to aid in the region’s infrastructure development and economic growth.

To be held at the University of Scranton’s Brennan Hall beginning at 10 a.m., the conference will enlist the participation of area Mayors, Chambers of Commerce, municipal planners, bankers and representatives of area nonprofits.

Congressman Kanjorski will set the stage for the day’s discussion when he delivers comments at 10:30 a.m. and answers questions. Following lunch, the forum will receive an economic forecast for northeastern PA from Kathy Kalser, an economist with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and hear perspective on the role that FHLBank Pittsburgh can play in economic development from Geoff Bacino, a member of the Federal Housing Finance Board. Directions From Points South: The University of Scranton’s Brennan Hall is located in the 300 block of Madison Avenue in Downtown Scranton. On I-81, proceed north and merge onto PA-3022 West/Central Scranton Expressway West via Exit 185 on the left. Merge onto US-11/PA-307/Spruce Street via the ramp on the left toward Central City/The Mall of Steamtown. Make a slight right onto Madison Avenue. End at Brennan Hall, the 300 block of Madison Avenue.
