FFD Provides a Path to Homeownership

In just four years, FHLBank member First Commonwealth Bank has helped more than 100 first-time homebuyers purchase a home by using FHLBank’s First Front Door (FFD) program.

One of those buyers, Jodeci Jackson, was a single mother working overtime to afford a family home. Once she found her ideal house in east Pittsburgh, local housing programs helped reduce the purchase price, and FFD provided $4,900 to help cover the down payment and closing costs.

"FFD helped me a lot," said Jackson. "As a single mom focused on daily life, like paying bills and raising a small child, the extra money was a big help for my family." Evan Zuverink, First Commonwealth’s Vice President and CRA Officer, agrees that FFD helps those who need it most.

"It gives homebuyers who can afford a mortgage payment, but have limited savings for down-payment and closing costs, the resources they need to succeed," Zuverink said. "With FFD, First Commonwealth has been able to help Jodeci, and families like hers, find a place to call home."
