Community Health Center Expands With Help from CLP

Cortland Acres in Thomas, W.Va., needed more space for the growing number of residents and outpatients recovering from sports injuries, surgeries and strokes. But the $3 million price tag for expansion was more than Cortland’s local bank could finance, so Cortland came up with a unique solution. Four financial institutions – Grant County Bank, Citizens Bank of West Virginia, Mountain Valley Bank, and Miners & Merchants Bank – happily participated in the loan. FHLBank member Grant County Bank funded its $700,000 portion through the Community Lending Program (CLP). The expansion increased the footprint of the center by 20 percent.
